Gucci apologies for “Blackface” balaclava

Italian Fashion House, Gucci, has issued an apology for its Blackface wool balaclava that resembled deeply racially offensive imagery from the Minstrel Shows era.

In a statement issued by Gucci, it stated, ‘Gucci apologies for the offense caused by the wool balaclava jumper….We consider diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld and respected and at the forefront of every decision we make’.

Gucci has since withdrew all the balaclava from its online and physical stores
